TEE BALL MINORS (LEAGUE AGES 4-5)
Players born between September 1, 2019 and August 31, 2021
The Tee Ball Minors division is for league age 4 and 5-year olds is a pure tee ball division (NO COACH PITCH) designed to introduce our youngest players to the basics, fundamentals and fun of baseball. This is a non-competitive division where players can learn and practice fundamental baseball skills at an early age and receive maximum enjoyment from the experience. Games are 1 hour in length from the scheduled start time. Tee Ball players do not evaluate to play. There are no team standings or playoffs, and scores are not recorded. Players can request a coach (depending on roster availability).
Games are typically played twice a week. Practices will be mainly in preseason and occasionally during the season.
ROOKIES (LEAGUE AGES 6-7)
Players born between September 1, 2018 and August 31, 2020
**League age 8-year olds who are new to the game or who need additional training and development can play in this division with the approval of the Board of Directors.**
The Rookies is a Coach-Pitch division for league age 6 and 7-year olds. 6-year olds must have at least one season of Tee Ball (or equivalent) experience in order to play in this division. This division is a non-competitive division where players can learn, develop, and practice fundamental baseball skills at an early age and receive maximum enjoyment from the experience. Rookies players do not evaluate to play. Games are 1 hour 15 minutes in length from the scheduled start time.There are no team standings or playoffs, and scores are not recorded. Players can request a coach (depending on roster availability).
Games are typically played twice a week. Practices will be mainly in preseason and occasionally during the season.
MINORS (LEAGUE AGES 7-11)
Players do not select whether they wish to play at the Player Pitch level. All players must attend one of the scheduled evaluations to be eligible for the draft. League age 8 and 9 year olds may request to stay at the Machine Pitch Level. The Player pitch AAA teams first draft their players and any remaining players are placed in the Machine Pitch draft pool.
**Players who are league age 12 who wish to play in the AAA division must be granted a waiver by the District Administrator.**
MINORS - MACHINE PITCH/PLAYER PITCH HYBRID (LEAGUE AGES 7-11)
Players born between September 1, 2013 and August 31, 2017
The machine pitch/player pitch hybrid division for league ages 8, 9, and some 10 year olds. 11-year olds who are new to the game are eligible to play at this level but may not pitch. 7-year olds are eligible to try out but MUST have played two seasons of Rookies or equivalent baseball to be eligible to play in this division. Any undrafted 7 year olds will be rostered in the Rookies Division. All Players need to attend evaluations, This division is a semi-competitive division where the skills of throwing, catching, hitting, and learning situational baseball will be emphasized. The pitching machine will be utilized in all games within Western Little League. In the event that Western needs to interleague with other leagues NOT utilizing the machine pitch the players will pitch. Games are 1 hour 30 minutes in length from the scheduled start time.Game scores and standings are kept and will be used to seed the teams for the end of season tournament. Players may request a specific coach or team but may not be guaranteed to be on that team in order to maintain a competitive balance.
Games are typically played twice a week with weekly practice.
MINORS - PLAYER PITCH (AAA) (LEAGUE AGES 8-11)
Players born between September 1, 2013 and August 31, 2016
The Minors player pitch AAA division is a semi-competitive kid pitch division. 8-year olds are eligible to try out but MUST have played one season of machine pitch or equivalent baseball to be eligible to play in AAA division. They must have sufficient skill and ability, and are not promised a roster spot in AAA (they must attend tryouts and be drafted—undrafted 8-year olds will be rostered in the Machine Pitch/Player Pitch Division). Games are 1 hour 45 minutes in length from the scheduled start time. Game scores and standings are kept and will be used to seed the teams for the end of season tournaments. AAA teams may also be selected to play in a District 4 Tournament of Champions after the WLL AAA tournament ends.
Games are typically played twice a week with weekly practice.
MAJORS (LITTLE LEAGUE) (LEAGUE AGES 10-12)
Players born between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2015
The Majors division is a competitive division. New players to this division must attend a scheduled evaluation to be eligible for the draft. Players who played majors at a league age 10 or 11 can be deemed “property players” and play on the same team the next season. Game scores and standings are kept and will be used to seed the teams for the end of season tournaments. Teams may also be selected to play in a District 4 Tournament of Champions after the spring season tournament ends. 10 and 11 year olds may try-out, but are not guaranteed to be drafted to Majors (if not drafted, they will be placed in the Minors division draft pool).
Games are typically played twice a week with at least 1 weekly practice.
JUNIORS (LEAGUE AGES 12-14)
Players born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2013
This division is the first to utilize a regulation sized baseball field with a 90-foot base path and 60-foot 6-inch pitching rubber. This division is scheduled by and run at the District level. The league's ability to charter a team in this division is dependent on sufficient interest.
SENIORS (LEAGUE AGES 13-16)
Players born between September 1, 2008 and April 30, 2012
This division utilizes a regulation sized baseball field with a 90-foot base path and 60-foot 6-inch pitching rubber. The Seniors division is scheduled by and run at the District level. The league's ability to sponsor a team in this division is dependent on sufficient interest.
